Although tennis is very much a sport for all the year around, we are now approaching the most popular time of year for those taking to the court.

Not only do we have the two new artificial clay courts in place at French Open time of year, then of course comes the grass court season and the two weeks of Wimbledon.

And coming up here at WLTSC over the coming weeks we will see players from all ages of the spectrum enjoying the spirit of healthy tennis competition.

This Saturday (April 21st) sees the Junior Club Championships Finals Day with the club’s young players taking to the courts from midday onwards.

All members are welcome to come down and encourage the young players in their finals.

This is followed in the evening by the Every Point junior awards night and disco.

The coaching team have faced the unenviable task of nominating the players for this year’s awards from over 250 juniors who take part in the programme.

It is always a big highlight of the club’s junior calendar, and tickets are available from reception this week.

Meanwhile entries are now being taken for the Vintage Tennis Championships, over 60s in the Men and over 55s in the ladies.

There is also a 100+ event mixed event, where the combined ages of doubles pairings must be 100 or over.

So a 60 and a 40, or a 70 and a 30, so start looking for your partners, and asking that very awkward question!

With hopefully some better weather ahead we are hoping for more and more people to get involved in tennis, and if you can think of any potential new members who might want to join us please feel free to give them one of the new club brochures.
