Organisers are planning a night packed with fun and good food for the forthcoming summer party at WLTSC – with a Caribbean theme.

Hot on the heels of the successful System Energize party last month, the club’s social committee are now all set for their second major event of the year, taking place on Saturday, June 15th.

“The System Energize party went really well with some good support and so now we are looking forward to our next event next month,” says Nicky Willis, who became chair of the WLTSC social committee in January.

“We used the DJ Stuart Ojelay from Word of Mouth, to try something different, and had the disco in the bar and restaurant area which worked well, and there was a really good atmosphere.

“Hopefully we can carry on that momentum into the Summer Party, which we have decided to run with a Caribbean theme.

“We will have rum and fruit cocktails on arrival, a traditional Caribbean caterer from Wolverhampton coming in to do a great three-course dinner, as well as Steelasophical, a steel band who will perform during the evening followed by a disco.

“I should also point out that it is definitely not fancy dress, for anyone who might not be too keen on that!

“It is generally smart casual but if people want to wear a flowery shirt for the Caribbean theme, or a lounge suit, everything is welcome.

“We just want to put on another night of good food and entertainment for people to enjoy.”

Plans are also well underway for the return of the Big Ball in September – already sold out – with almost 400 set to enjoy another fantastic night in the marquee on the grass courts.

Catering will be provided by the Medicine Bakery and Kitchen from Codsall, music from rock and pop band The Copicats, and one or two other surprises for good measure.

After that the committee’s attentions will turn to the Christmas party, scheduled for December 14th.

“We are a relatively new committee in terms of our make-up, and we would really love to hear more feedback from members about what sort of events they would like and what they think works, and what doesn’t,” added Nicky.

“We are open to all ideas, and, when we do try something new and different in line with any feedback, hopefully people will be able to support the events and let us know what they think!”

The social committee is comprised of Nicky, Ally Birkett, Sarah Houghton, Sally Mansell, Jason Mansell, Marc Hughes, Gilly Dench and Nikki Parkes.  Members are invited to pass feedback onto any of the committee members.

*Tickets priced at £30 are still available for the Summer Party, with club members welcome to invite non-members as guests.  Rather than designated tables, food will be served to long rows of tables and so tickets can be booked individually or in groups of any numbers.
