While Wolverhampton Lawn Tennis and Squash Club is a venue which hosts sports 12 months of the year, this is the time when tennis becomes a very popular pastime.
The annual Wimbledon Championships often leads people to reach for their rackets, and a free taster session in tennis will form a major part of an Open Day taking place at the club on Bank Holiday Monday, May 27th .
Part of the LTA’s Nature Valley Big Tennis weekend initiative to encourage more people to take up the sport, visitors will be welcome to visit the club and play not just tennis but also squash and racketball from 10.30am-noon.
There is also a taster fitness session which will run from 9.30am-10.15am, and, with refreshments provided in the bar afterwards, guests can enjoy the opportunity to see the various aspects of life at the club which members can enjoy.
And, for anyone unable to get to the Open Day, or if the date has passed, please contact the club on (01902) 755265 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to come and take a look at everything available for members.
There are many other great activities in the pipeline over the summer for prospective members to enjoy, including the annual summer party, club tennis championships, – which are graded according to ability – Taster Tennis sessions, a Corporate Cup and community challenges such as the Aberdovey Bike Ride for Compton Care.
“Whilst we offer a range of different sports and social and community activities throughout the year, we know that tennis becomes very popular during spring and summer,” says WLTSC Operations Manager Marc Hughes.
“That is why we are organising the Open Day at the end of May, but would also be glad to show anyone else around our facilities to see if they want to take advantage of the warmer weather to improve their health and fitness.”
